Juan Trigos
- the festival will include the Florida premiere of Trigos’ “Ricercare VI,” conducted by Trigos himself.  The piece is a major work for guitar and chamber orchestra that will feature many of Orlando’s best interpreters of contemporary classical music.  Maestro Trigos is the conductor of the Eastman School of Music’s Broadband Ensemble and is the former conductor and music director of the National Chamber Orchestra in Mexico City.

Emily Hay - Flautist, pianist, vocalist… Emily Hay is a virtuoso of her own design.  Her performances incorporate electronics, vocalization, and improvisation in a powerful and inimitable style.  The Civic Minded Five present Hay in a solo performance at the Timcua Arts Foundation’s White House.

John Alvarez - this will be the world premiere of Alvarez’s piece “In The Beginning,” an evocation of the creation of the universe for big band and surround sound electronics.  Alvarez studied composition with Stella Sung and Ladizlav Kubik, two of the most internationally recognized composers in Florida.  His music has been performed at chamber music festivals in the U.S., France and the Czech Republic.

Bryan Eubanks + Jason Kahn - Recently featured in Wire magazine in the UK, these two are musical thinkers and innovators.  Composers, improvisors creators of sound installations, inventors of instruments… -

Matt McCarthy - this will be the first complete performance of Matt’s “The Hang,” a piece that derives its form from different combinations of improvising musicians.  Inspired by the work of Sam Rivers (whose RivBea Orchestra Matt frequently performs with), Matt composed a piece in which all of the musicians are featured as soloists.  Matt is one of the most in-demand jazz musicians in Orlando.

Keith Lay - Born in 1958, Keith Lay grew up in and was educated in Ohio. His career has focused on university teaching, engineering and producing music and videos for record labels, education and broadcast. The New York Times, hailed Mr. Lay as ‘a composer to watch for’. His work has been performed by orchestras across the US and Europe.

Phil Swasey - Phil’s trio for violin, guitar and piano is a lyrical, meditative work in a distinctly original language.  The piece will be performed at our chamber music concert on Thursday, September 8th.

Thad Anderson - Thad is a complete musician.  Professor of percussion, music technology and composition at the University of Central Florida and endorsed by Vic Firth, he is a composer, dedicated performer of new music, educator, clinician, festival organizer, and blogger.
